News and Notes:
- This Week’s No. 13 Carolina Nut Co. / Louisiana Hot Sauce Ford F-150… The No. 13 ThorSport Racing team will unload chassis No. 53 for Saturday night’s M&M’s 200 Presented by Casey’s General Store. Making its second on-track appearance of the season this weekend, the truck made its first start of 2018 at Dover International Speedway this year, where it saw an 11th-place finish with Snider behind the wheel. The chassis previously saw on-track action in 2017 at Kansas Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway, with Cody Coughlin piloting the truck, while earning two top-10 finishes (Atlanta Motor Speedway, Michigan International Speedway) with Snider’s now teammate, Ben Rhodes, behind the wheel in 2016. With the chassis making its track-debut in 2015, Cameron Hayley collected four top-10 finishes, a ninth at Kentucky, fourth at Pocono Raceway and two 10th-place nods at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Texas that season. Overall, the chassis has one top-five and five top-10 finishes.
- Hawkeye State Return… Though this weekend’s race will be Snider’s first at Iowa Speedway in a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) entry, this isn’t his first trip to the 7/8th-mile oval. Previously competing in the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards, Snider made his track debut in a Ford machine in 2016, starting 10th and finishing fifth.
- Crew Chief Corner… Making his crew chief debut at Iowa this weekend, much like Snider, this isn’t Rich Lushes’s first trip to the 0.875-mile oval. In 2016, Lushes helped call Austin Theriault to a second-place finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, while also assisting Landon Cassill to a second-place finish in 2006, one of six Late Model races he’s called atop the pit box. Lushes notes, “Iowa is an exciting track for me, one I’ve had fun competing at before in other series. “I’m looking forward to getting there with the No. 13 guys this weekend, and we’ve built and prepared another great Ford F-150. We’ve learned a lot as a group this season already, and it’s starting to show on-track.”
- Catch Snider at Iowa… Snider will join fellow ThorSport Racing teammates, and other NCWTS drivers, for a series autograph session, Saturday, June 16, 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. CT, located under the Turn 4 grandstands at Iowa Speedway.
Chatting with Myatt Snider…
“Iowa is a short-track where we’ll have three rounds of qualifying to work with. It will be important that we have just the right amount of speed each round so we can advance to the next, until it’s time for the ‘money lap.’ We’ve put emphasis on getting that down to a science, and we’ve made a lot of good, solid progress. With Iowa being a track know to wear out tires fast, it’s right in the wheelhouse I grew up racing in. We’ve had a good showing at short tracks so far this season, finishing sixth at Martinsville [Speedway]. Going in with the mindset of earning stage points like we have been, it should put us in a good spot this weekend.”
