Myatt Snider – 2018 Martinsville Preview

News and Notes:

• This Week’s No. 13 Liberty Tax Ford F-150… The No. 13 ThorSport Racing team will unload chassis No. 49 for this weekend’s Alpha Energy Solutions 250 at Martinsville Speedway. Last seeing the track at Martinsville last fall, the chassis holds four top-five finishes (Iowa Speedway, 2016, Gateway Motorsports Park, 2017 and 2016, and Martinsville Speedway, 2016), two top-10 finishes (Pocono Raceway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2017), and two pole awards (Martinsville Speedway and Gateway Motorsports Park in 2016).
• In the Family… Martinsville Speedway holds a special place in Snider’s heart, with his family having long-standing ties to the half-mile short track through multiple generations. Not only is it a place where Snider’s cousin, Jay, has competed in cars from a modified up to the NASCAR Cup Series ranks, his grandfather, Gurney, also owned a team that raced at Martinsville Speedway in the early days of NASCAR’s formation.
• Short-track Seat Time… Though this weekend’s race is a first for Snider in a NCWTS truck at Martinsville, he’s no stranger to short-track racing in the south. Finishing in the top 10 in each event he competed in, Snider cut his teeth on the CARS Late Model Stock Tour in 2015, in addition to finishing seventh at 2014’s Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Virginia.
• Catch Snider at Martinsville… Snider will join fellow ThorSport Racing teammates for the NCWTS autograph session in front of the Martinsville Speedway Administration Building from 5-5:45 p.m. ET, Friday, March 23.
  

“This will be my first trip to a short-track in a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Ford F-150, but I couldn’t think of a more appropriate track to do that at. My family has such a rich racing history there, and I’ve had fun competing there before – it’s something I’ve waited to do a long time. The opportunity is finally here. I think we’ll have a great showing with our Liberty Tax Ford F-150, and I’m looking forward to racing the half-mile ‘paperclip’ this weekend.”

Your family has quite an impressive history at Martinsville Speedway. Could you elaborate on that?

“My cousin, Jay, has been competing for years and years at the track, running everything from a modified to a NASCAR Cup car. There’s a lot of family heritage and pride there. My grandfather, Gurney, also used to own a team that competed at the track – he was proudly part of the “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” crew, and one of the original team owners when NASCAR was first formed. It’s an honor for me to continue our family’s racing legacy this weekend there.”
