News and Notes:
- This Week’s No. 13 Century Container/Louisiana Hot Sauce Ford F-150… The No. 13 ThorSport Racing team will unload chassis No. 56 for this weekend’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). Last competing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway earlier this season, the truck saw a strong run with Snider behind the wheel, despite the finish on record. With now-teammate Matt Crafton behind the wheel, the chassis finished second at Atlanta in 2017, while also logging two laps led in the race. Making its track debut in 2016 at Chicagoland Speedway, the chassis went on to finish seventh at Homestead-Miami Speedway with Crafton piloting the truck, leading 10 laps in the race.
- Home Sweet Home Track… Growing up in the shadows of CMS, Snider looks to rebound with home field advantage this weekend. Despite making his debut on the “big oval” at the 1.5-mile track, Snider is no stranger to racing in, and around, the Queen City. Cutting his teeth at CMS in Legend and Bandolero cars starting in 2005, Snider moved on to compete full-time in Legends in 2010. Competing at the track’s fifth-mile course in his first event, he saw success early, finishing third in that race. Claiming his first victory in 2011 on the infield road course in a Legends car at CMS, Snider then went on to secure a track championship at nearby-Concord Speedway in 2012, located just 15 to 20 minutes from the racing complex.
- It’s Bristol, Baby… Crew members from the No. 13 ThorSport Racing team, along with driver Myatt Snider, will pull double-duty this weekend, heading to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Rusty Wallace Automotive Group Short Track U.S. Nationals, after Friday night’s NC Education Lottery 200. Driver Myatt Snider will field an entry with the CARS Late Model Stock Tour, while Crew Chief Rich Lushes’ brother, Mark Lushes, will also field a Street Stock with the Champion Racing Association (CRA) during the weekend’s events. Serving as a crew member at Bristol this weekend, Rich Lushes is often paired with Mark as Crew Chief to his sibling-driver, with Rich calling Mark’s CRS Trucks races at Anderson Speedway and Sandusky Speedway so far this season, and Mark’s Street Stock events in year’s past.
- Catch Snider at Charlotte… Snider will join fellow ThorSport Racing teammate Ben Rhodes, and other NCWTS drivers, for an autograph session at Camping World of Concord near Charlotte Motor Speedway, Friday, May 18, from 1 to 1:30 p.m. ET. Additionally, Snider will then join fellow NCWTS drivers for the series autograph session following the event at Camping World, from 3 to 3:45 p.m. ET, located in the Whiskey River Fan Area under the Ford Grandstands at track.
Chatting with Myatt Snider…
“It’s awesome to be coming home to my home track of Charlotte Motor Speedway. I’ve wanted to run the big-oval for a long, long time now. I finally get the opportunity to do so this weekend with the No. 13 Century Container/Louisiana Hot Sauce Ford F-150 team. It’s been a dream of mine for a long time. Obviously, you get to see the big track when you run the Legends track, which I have before. Being able to come here and compete is quite a blessing, so I’m looking forward to it. I think we’ll be able to put together a good run – we’ve had a good mile-and-a-half program all year with our No. 13 team. The fact we’re going to my home track is a little added motivation for the weekend.”
Kicking off a series of mile-and-a-half tracks, and where the program has developed and showed strength, do you feel this will be an advantage coming up?
“We’ve had speed all season – we just need a little bit of luck. Maybe, coming to my home track this weekend will be just what we need, and we might have some home field advantage. I’m looking forward to it.”
