Quote:

“Our Cabinets by Hayley Toyota Tundra was really amazing tonight. We could get up to the front and stay there all night. It’s hard racing here (Daytona). We just caught bumpers the wrong way. (Timothy) Peters got into the back of me, and just tight racing. It’s so hard there at the end when you’re bumping into each other and trying to hold a pretty wheel. I guess that’s Daytona, but it just sucks for all my guys that work so hard.”

News & Notes:

  • Friday night’s NextEra Energy Resources 250 marked Hayley’s second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start at the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway (DIS)
  • The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) had two practice sessions on Thursday afternoon in preparation for Friday night’s 100-lap event, and Hayley was ninth and 28th-quick, respectively, in both sessions
  • Hayley posted the 14th fastest time in the two round, single-truck qualifying on Friday afternoon at DIS
  • Starting from the 14th position, Hayley led the 32-truck field twice for four laps (64-66 & 83) of the 100-lap event
  • Crew chief Eddie Troconis brought the No. 13 Cabinets by Hayley Toyota Tundra to pit road at lap 13 for fuel only, lap 42 for four tires and fuel, and lap 67 for right side tires and fuel
  • Hayley received a pit road violation at lap 41 for speeding on exit, which forced him to the tail end of the longest line
  • Working his way back through the pack, Hayley reported a vibration just passed the halfway mark in the 100-lap event, but went on to lead the field for the first time in 2016 at lap 64
  • Running in the third position, Hayley got a push from behind, which sent him into teammate Matt Crafton, causing an 18 truck pile-up with only six laps remaining in the 100-lap event, and ultimately brought out the red flag
  • Extensive damage to the No. 13 Toyota Tundra would credit Hayley with a 25th-place finish, eight laps down to race winner Johnny Sauter
  • In 27 career NCWTS starts, Hayley has four top-five and 15 top-10 finishes
  • Hayley’s ThorSport Racing teammates finished seventh (Rhodes), 10th (Crafton), and 29th (Abreu)
