In his Chicagoland Speedway debut last season, Jeb Burton captured the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Keystone Light Pole Award, led 42 laps and ended the night with a ninth-place finish. His 2013 effort marked the second most laps-led in a single NCWTS event across his 41 career starts. Piloting the Estes Express Toyota Tundra for the sixth annual Lucas Oil 225 on Friday night, Burton feels he has some unfinished business in the “Windy City.”
With an average starting position of 7.0 through the first four NCWTS races on one-and-a-half-mile tracks, Burton has shown speed on the intermediate tracks. In fact, Burton’s season-best finish of sixth came at Chicagoland’s sister track, Kansas Speedway, earlier this year.
The Halifax, Va. native quickly adapted to Chicagoland’s 1.5-mile D-shaped oval last season, and after an eighth-place finish in the most recent race on an intermediate track at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, the Estes Express team has the ingredients to contend for a victory in Friday night’s Lucas Oil 225.
Sounding Off – Jeb Burton:
“We’ve had good speed at the intermediate tracks this year and I feel like we’re definitely getting the performance in the direction it needs to be for the final eight races. I had a good run last year – won the pole, and led laps and I feel confident this ThorSport team can help me do that again, we just need to capitalize on a good finish this time around. At Michigan, we were a top-five truck and that performance has us looking for a great run at Chicago on Friday night.”
