Are you looking forward to getting back to your short-track roots this weekend at Iowa?
“Yeah, we ran really well there last year in the truck. I ran top five all day, and spun out about halfway through. That kind of hurt our day, and then we ran out of gas, and a bunch of things went wrong. Iowa has been really good to us. I mean really it’s a short track, I consider it a short track, but it races like a mile-and-a-half. It’s so fast; these trucks get so, so fast there that it really has characteristics, air-wise, like a mile-and-a-half. So we’ll take a lot of our intermediate, and short track notes there.”
News & Notes:
- Chassis Chatter…The No. 13 ThorSport Racing team will unload chassis No. 37 for Saturday night’s Speediatrics 200 at Iowa Speedway. This is the same chassis that Hayley piloted to a 19th-place finish at Dover International Speedway earlier this season.
- Hawkeye State Stats… Hayley has two starts at Iowa Speedway in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, which includes two top-15 finishes. Also, among active series drivers, in the NCWTS, Hayley has the Best Average Start (5.0) at Iowa Speedway.
- Iowa Rewind – 2015… Hayley started fifth, lead a career-high 37 laps, but pit road problems and a late-race flat tire relegated the Calgary, Alberta, Canada native to a 19th-place finish.
- Rearview Mirror – Texas… Hayley started 11th, battled a loose Toyota Tundra due to early damage on the nose, and finished 18th.
